Position Title: Mechanical Drafter — (11731153) Location: Wamego, KS Duration: 12 months Candidate Responsibilities: This position is for a mechanical drafter that will work with an engineering staff to complete the modeling, drafting, and engineering releasing functions in preparation for product to be either manufactured or purchased from a supplier. The position will need a good understanding of material specifications (especially related to steel materials), welding callouts, and dimensioning and tolerancing practices. A successful candidate will also have an understanding of the manufacturing processes involved with heavy steel fabrications including machining, welding, paint, and automated cut tables. This position will also be involved in an engineering test area which can include request to apply strain gages and other data acquisition equipment and assist in the completion of the engineering test. A mechanical apptitude is certainly beneficial. Typical Day: A typical day would be to complete assignments and actions items from the engineering team to complete the drafting and releasing of new or changed products. If there are active engineering tests then those days would include be at the engineering test areas to assist with setting up test equipment, operating equipment, and gathering data. Education Requirements: Two-year degree or experience in the field. Technical Skills: Must be able to model and create drawings in Pro-E and have a good understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing. Also, knowledge of steel material types and weld callouts are important. Soft Skills: Will need to be able to use email as a primary communication tool and the ability to use Microsoft Office platforms is also important (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams).
