This position entails working with the industrial design team to create appearance models and mock-ups used to evaluate and communicate industrial design directions, forms, and details of product concepts. The model maker will take CNC machined concepts and finish and detail them. This position requires attention to detail and craftsmanship. The model maker will be responsible for coordinating model builds with Industrial Designers and CNC operators to ensure quality and efficiency. The model maker will be responsible for cosmetic finishing, detailing and assembly. The candidate should have experience in painting both high gloss and mimicking molded textures. They should have attention to detail, schedule driven, ability to work within a team and have good interpersonal skills. Skills, education and experience The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working in a design model shop. They should be proficient in finishing, detailing, painting, polishing and assembly. They should have demonstrated a passion to invent new and unique methods to simulate state of the art products. Organizational skills are a must to ensure a safe and efficient model shop. The model maker will be responsible for maintaining the shop environment including safety, inventory & organization of supplies, organization of tools and housekeeping.
