Senior Big-Data Engineer

SKILLS

1. Assemble and optimize large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

2. Hands on deep working knowledge Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using NoSQL and SQL AWS big data technologies ( Dynamo, Kinesis, S3, HIVE/Spark). Experience building and optimizing big data data pipelines, architectures and data sets. (HiveMQ, Kafka, Cassandra, S3, Redshift)

3. Writes software in Scala (Spark), R, Python or similar languages and contributes code to product development teams

4. Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

5. Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

4. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

5. Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management. (Preferably in Python of Spark).

Experience

1. A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.



2. Hands On working experience with message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big data data stores.

3. Strong project management and organizational skills.

4. Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

5. Strong coding experience.

6. We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer/Data Science role, who has attained a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:

· Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

· Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases.

· Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, Glue

· Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.

· Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.

. AWS hands on experience and AWS cloud architect or big data certification a plus
