Job Description: Sr. Product Consultant Contract through July 1, 2021 St. Paul, MN Purpose: Develop & lead a Product Practice to accelerate Securians agile transformation Key Responsibilities: Securian Financial is seeking an experienced product leader to serve as a Product Practice Lead to create an established product practice within the organization. In this role, youll define standards, drive consistency of a product practice and indirectly lead 30+ Product Owners to establish a mature PRoduct PRactice. To be successful in this role, youll have served as both a Product Owner/Manager and a team leader within product organizations – in other words, you know how to do the job. The Product Practice Lead will report directly to the Head of the Agile Center of Excellence. Define common Product Owner & Product Management practices (e.g. roadmap creation, outcome/measurement definition, product discovery processes, prioritization tactics, requirements definition, stakeholder communication/management, etc.) Coach team of 30+ Product Owners on standardized practices and ensure adoption/adherence by all team members Partner with HR managers to provide input into annual performance reviews on product practices Input in decisions regarding hiring and promotions Create training & certification tracks and ensure adherence within the team Partner with the Portfolio Management & Agile Transformation Core teams to align methods across practice areas In partnership with the business, establish clear roles & responsibilities between product teams and business stakeholders Define metrics and clear measurement plan to identify maturity improvements for the Product Practice long-term Align these metrics and measurements plans with those created by the Portfolio Management & Agile Transformation Core teams Serve as a member of the Agile Transformation Core Leadership team to counsel, coach, and participate in transformational initiatives as Securian continues to transform & scale agile methods throughout the organization This leadership role is expected to bring the following benefits to the organization: Clear understanding of product methods within the Product Practice & accountability within the Product Owner/Manager roles to consistently adhere to defined processes Unbiased assessment of talent within the team and clear growth plans for roles as product practicioners Mentor/coach to both Product Owners/Managers and the business leaders who manage them, ultimately ensuring talent alignment within the practice Greater understanding of the Product Owner/Manager role within the organization Proven growth & consistent maturing within both the Product Practice and agile teams as a whole based on tangible measurement plans Desired Experience/Skills: 10+ years working within digital product teams in a Product Owner/Manager capacity 5+ years managing direct reports serving on multiple product teams Experience leading/participating in agile transformations within matrixed organizations Exceptional relationship management skills Metric-driven approach to drive tangible results Bachelors or masters degree Relevant certifications in product ownership, scrum, or agile coaching preferable   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
