REQUIRED SKILLS: 5-8 years experience • Solid understanding of Database technology – DB2 LUW • Good understanding of Linux/VM, AIX, Linux and Windows operating systems • Experience with Unix/Linux OS platforms and Unix Shell scripting and automation • Database performance tuning experience • Ability to develop Shell scripts for automating routine database maintenance • Experience with highly-available (HADR) environments required • Experience with DB2 LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows) DBMS required • Experience with Linux/AIX operating systems required • Able to provide 24x7 on-call support within a team rotation Desired Skills: • Solid knowledge of high availability using Tivoli / TSAMP policies. • Good knowledge of SQL replication . • Knowledge of SQL programming,Database and SQL performance tuning • Knowledge of database physical and logical design principals • Able to manage and deploy application database modifications • Knowledge of LDAP role-based authentication usage within DB2 LUW environments preferred • Experience with partitioned and non-partitioned environments preferred Role Expecations: • Interact with Storage and Deployment teams with AIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems • Support a High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) environment • Work closely with developers to create and maintain schema objects, design and debug triggers, stored procedures and user defined functions. • Monitor and maintain maximum performance of databases. Identify poorly performing queries and work with development teams to tune accordingly. • Design and implement processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate database outages and downtime. Implement data backup and recovery procedures to prevent the loss of data from all types of failure. Document, plan, and, test Disaster Recovery procedures. • Design, implement and maintain database security strategies that provide the appropriate level of security for users and applications. • Coordinates resolution of complex inter-domain technical problems. Resolves architectural issues and problems. Proactively identifies and resolves potential problems before they impact customers. • For assigned technology domain configurations: analyzes technical requirements; identifies and evaluates alternatives to meet requirements; selects target solutions to meet requirements and obtains consensus and approval for target solutions; develops migration plans; and performs resource tuning. • Participate in Database Maintenance and DR activities • Provide database deployment support for production and non-production environments • Space management activities such as table space creation, modification, etc. • Performing DB2 LUW maintenance activities • Troubleshoot database production problems and database connectivity issues • Implement Business Continuity Solutions such as Database refresh, cloning, Database Backups, etc. • Monitoring the database environment on a regular basis for performance and other issues • Implement DR solutions • Configure and maintain database high availability   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
