Monitors and analyzes network traffic and works to identify intrusions, or security breaches, and performs penetration tests to detect system intrusions and ensures authorized access to all systems by investigating improper access, reporting violations, and reviewing information requests. Occasionally provide on-call support for off-hour security breaches, system monitoring, and other security incidents and works with Department stakeholders, Infrastructure teams, and IT leadership to implement a practical, scalable, and secure model for County applications, networks, and services. Consults with other County departments and agencies: reports on information technology; provides technical information, advice and direction. Strong analytical skills using data to support strategic decisions; Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all areas of the business; Proven strategic leadership skills managing a cross-functional team; Skilled in project methodologies and operational execution while maintaining a sense of urgency. Education: Must have a bachelors degree in Computer Science or the equivalent (e.g. Math, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Security, etc.) Minimum of 2-3 years of security/incident response experience. And additional 3-5 years experience in the following: Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems C, C++, C#, Java, ASM, PHP, PERL TCP/IP-based network communications Computer hardware and software systems Operating system installation, patching and configuration Backup and archiving technologies Web-based application security eDiscovery tools (NUIX, Relativity, Clearwell, etc.) Forensic software applications (e.g. EnCase, FTK, Helix, Cellebrite, XRY, etc.) Enterprise system monitoring tools and SIEMs Cloud computing During the course of your day, you may be required to Conduct deep technical investigations, resulting in successful root cause analysis of intrusions and enhancement in technical controls and other risk reduction methodologies. Additionally, you will provide support in evaluation and operational implementation of new analysis tools, processes and vendors and products. Duties may include: • Leading incident investigations • Conducting incident analysis – data collection, intrusion analysis, forensics, remediation • Employing advanced forensic tools • Performing network traffic analysis • Reviewing threat data from various sources and develops custom signatures for Open Source Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) or other custom detection capabilities • Correlating actionable security events from various sources including Security Information Event Management (SIEM) system data and developing unique correlation techniques • Utilizing understanding of attack signatures, tactics, techniques and procedures associated with advanced threats • Conducting malware analysis of attacker tools providing indicators for enterprise defensive measures, and reverse engineer attacker encoding protocols • Interfacing with external entities in an operational environment • Documenting investigation activities to provide enhanced intelligence to the team and other cyber security activities • Performing full range of standard work described above and applies advanced skills   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
