Job Summary:

The SAFE System Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the SAFE

Child Welfare System. The system architect is expected to have a breadth of technical

knowledge, that spans across the information technology spectrum, along with deep knowledge
in the technologies and processes specific to the SAFE system.
The SAFE System Architect is the technical lead on moving SAFE development forward to meet
federal Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) requirements, including
modularity, data quality, data exchange and documentation requirements. SAFE development

is underway utilizing a modular design implemented using a microservices architecture.
The SAFE System Architect provides on-going technical guidance to management and staff
involved in the planning, implementation, and administration of other technical environments,
systems, or platforms.

Responsibilities and Duties

Core Responsibilities

? Strategy and Planning - Responsible for designing, recommending and implementing
short- and long-term strategic goals for managing and maintaining SAFE systems and
software. Ensure that planned and in-place architectures, practices and strategies align
with SAFEs goals.
? Research - Conduct in-depth research on new technologies, practices and tools and
create and develop plans and documentation to implement research results.
? Integration and Deployment - Create and monitor the implementation of end-to-end
integrated Child Welfare system.
? Operational Management - Use and implement Devops practices to balance and
manage development needs with operational support needs. Monitor and enhance
infrastructure development to support current and future needs.
? System Performance and Integrity - Maintain the integrity of the Child Welfare System
performance and reliability.
? Software Development - Review and make recommendations for enhancing software
development processes and procedures.
? Security - Responsible for the security implementations of the SAFE System.
? Standards - Responsible for recommending standards for technical development.
? New Technology and Practice - Evolves and adapts the system as new needs arise
and new technologies and practices become available and in the best interest of the
project.
? Cloud Architecture - Design with a future of moving to the cloud in mind.
? SAFE Architecture - Move SAFE development forward under existing architectures,
with an eye to careful evolution in line with goals and priorities.
