(FINRA) Job Description : ROLE: Web Application Firewall Engineer LOCATION: Rockville, MD OVERVIEW: Apex Systems has an immediate need for an Web Application Firewall Engineer to provide hands on Security testing. The position is on a long term contract basis, with a chance to become a permanent employee if desired. Hourly compensation varies depending on experience. The successful candidate is responsible for promoting, designing, and evaluating application firewall in all phases of the application life cycle with an emphasis on controls that protect and defend applications during runtime. RESPONSIBILITIES: Application Firewall and Runtime Defenses: Triage security events and work with a broader team in developing mitigation strategies for application security vulnerabilities. Tune products/solutions to keep false positives at minimum. Troubleshoot any operational issues as well as engage product support as needed Be able to get on escalated support calls if needed after business hours QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or equivalent education or experience. Emphasis in application security a plus. 2+ Years of experience with WAF preferably with Imperva SecureSphere, Cloudflare or Incapsula Firewalls/RASPs – Including deployment, operation, administration, and support. 2+ years of experience with common Web/App Servers (eg. IIS, Apache, Nginx, Node.js, Tomcat etc.) Good understanding of networking/architecture Strong understanding of OWASP top 10, DoS and common application layer attacks. Good understanding of TCP/IP and basic networking concepts. Good understanding of Web Applications architectures (e.g n-tier, microservices etc.) Familiarity with common programming languages and technologies (e.g PHP, Java, HTML, JavaScript, RegEx, REST etc.) DESIRED: Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field Experience with Cloud based WAF solutions e.g (SecureSphere Cloud, F5 Cloud) and SaaS based WAF solutions (e.g Cloudflare, Incapsula etc.) Knowledge/hands-on experiences of AWS fundamentals and security Knowledge/hands-on experiences in DevOps and CI/CD Familiarity with programming languages   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
