Candidate must be our W2 Employee Description: The Data Intelligence team deliver business value through differentiated and innovative analytics to support Downstream & Chemicals business objectives. This includes development of new analytics solutions - spanning from descriptive analytics to advanced analytics / data science - for all DS&C Business Units (Lubricants, Oronite, Manufacturing, Americas and International Products) as well as support of key profitability systems (MOS applications) across DS&C. The Data Intelligence team is responsible for delivering millions of dollars of business value each year through analytics and drives innovation on new technology through DS&Cs analytics platform in Microsoft Azure. The team also embraces DevOps and Agile culture and applies scrum and Kanban methodologies. Position Details: The DS&C Data Intelligence Team is looking for a Data Engineer to ingest, prepare, and transform data needed to support analytics use cases using Downstreams Data Foundation standards. As part of the DS&C Analytics scrum team, this position will focus on technical work in close collaboration with data scientists and analytics analysts to develop and deliver analytic solutions/proof of concepts that are used across all areas of DS&C – Products, Lubricants, Manufacturing, and Oronite. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Technical solution delivery Assess business requirements and data sources to determine the best design to ingest, transform, structure, and provide data for analytics tools Identify the most appropriate Azure services to best solve a problem and fit into Chevrons overall Data Foundation architecture Design solutions based on Microsoft Azure data services Translate business requirements into technical specifications Deliver data driven solutions using target services Data Management and Analytics solutions performance tuning Design and maintain well performing data structures and processes, from ingestion to consumption Knowledge of Azure data services to build a well performing solution Critical Selection Criteria (in priority order): Technical Depth: Requires strong understanding of complex data sets and strong scripting-programming skills. Experience coding and technical exposure to at least one of the following: SQL, U-SQL, C#, Python, Spark. Preferred experience includes some exposure to Ansible and Microsoft Azure services such as Data Factory, Data Lake Store, and Databricks. Teamwork: Ability to operate in a multi-functional team using Agile development methodology in quick sprint cycles. Ability to collaborate across different cultures and time zones if necessary. Technical Breadth: Able to learn a range of new and evolving technologies related to big data / analytics. Given a problem, can advise on best way to technically approach the solution. Ability to provide expertise and technical acumen in a wide variety of technologies. Deliver Results - Deliver quality results that meet short and long-term business needs.
