Contractor shall provide The Graduate Center (“College”), a constituent Institute of The City University of New York (“University”), with User Experience (UX) Design Consultant for the CUNY Academic Commons Project on an hourly basis (“User Experience (UX) Design Consultant”). 2. This is a requirements contract. The amount of Services needed by the College will be determined by the College and communicated to the Contractor at the appropriate time. College estimates that it will require a total of approximately four hundred (275) hours, but may request more or fewer hours based on Colleges needs and in Colleges best interests. 3. The College designates the Colleges CUNY Academic Commons Director or his/her designee (“Project Manager”) as the liaison between Contractor and the College for purposes of administration of the Contract. 4. The Graduate Center is an institution of higher education located at 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. The loading dock is located at 16 East 35th Street. 5. We require contracted (UX) Design Consultant Project services. The individual(s) providing such contracted services on a per-hour basis must have experience and expertise that are relevant to the applications we require to be maintained and enhanced. B. BIDDER REQUIREMENTS Each bidder (“Bidder”) must meet the following requirements and furnish all necessary information with its bid. CUNY reserves the right to determine that a Bidder has substantially met all the bid requirements and/or to ask for additional information. Failure to comply with these requirements shall be grounds for rejection of a bid The UX/Design Consultant must meet the following requirements: 1) 5+ years of demonstrated WordPress UX and Design Experience The Commons projects are built primarily on WordPress and BuddyPress. The UX/Design Consultant should have 5+ years of demonstrable experience as UX designer for WordPress. Expert-level knowledge of the inner workings of WordPress and BuddyPress, its plugin landscape and third-party integrations is required. Basic understanding of WordPress coding standards and some front-end development experience is ideal. Experience testing and reviewing design implementation during the development phase is required. 2) At least 5+ months of demonstrable experience user-experience design specifically for BuddyPress projects that use features such as groups, profiles, and activity feeds The Commons is social software that depends on BuddyPress. 5+ months experience doing UX design work for a project that uses BuddyPress is required. 3) Demonstrated experience working for both public and private higher education clients The Commons is focused on building higher education communities, and its CBOX software is used by both public and private universities. Demonstrated experience working with such audiences is required. 4) Demonstrated experience working with high-profile clients on WordPress projects The Commons is a flagship WordPress/BuddyPress installation that sets the standard for community software in higher education. Demonstrated experience working for nationally recognized clients is required. Experience working for companies that create widely used WordPress code is highly preferred. 5) Demonstrable experience contributing to free software projects Participation in free and open source software communities such as WordPress is central to the Commons ethos.
