A Senior Business Analyst is needed to support efforts to evaluate, improve, and enhance LIMS type functionality in the DNA Databank including a data exchange web interface utilized with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). The Databank LIMS Improvement Project entails developing a documented in-depth analysis of the current DNA Databank LIMS including a general description of the database structure and the web interface between DNA Databank and DCJS OFS. Through this in depth analysis, business requirements will be established to document the scope of work. This project will require information and requirements gathering sessions through one-on-one and group interviews. The Senior Business Analyst will also be expected to establish agendas and coordinate meetings with the appropriate stake holders to ensure project objectives and timelines are being met. Qualifications: Business Analyst - Analyzes an organization or business domain (real or hypothetical) and documents its business or processes or systems, assessing the business model or its integration with technology with distinct deliverables to a solution. Senior 60 - 84 months: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education. 60 months experience working with users to identify current workflows, "To Be" requirements and performing gap analysis 36 months experience with Lab Information Management System (LIMS) or lab tracking software 60 months experience in obtaining and writing business, user and functional requirements, use cases, process models, workflows, and creating mock reports technical documents 36 months experience working with software developers and conveying requirements of software users to developers 36 Months experience analyzing business/laboratory workflows 36 months experience in team building, facilitation, presenting, and working and communicating with diverse groups. Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Natural Sciences, or related field Day-to-Day tasks: Work closely with the project manager and business unit manager to ensure timely deliverables. Participate in status meetings and provide weekly reports to business unit. Interact with ITS staff, business users and stakeholders as necessary to determine and implement functional and technical requirements Perform data analysis for data mapping of the New York State Police DNA Databank LIMS and DCJS DNA management system web interface for data exchange. Participate in business user and stakeholder meetings and perform interviews of business users for requirements gathering sessions. Conduct gap analysis to explore current functionality and identify gaps between new or upgraded systems. Work with end users to gather and review/analyze existing workflows, process flows, reports and documentation. Analysis of what statistical and management reports will be needed, document the requirements and design the reports for new LIMS.
