Job Description Tech Lead: Active Directory, Backup And Recovery, CCNA, DHCP DNS Data Center Management TCPIP Mi

Description:


1. Information Systems Development, Maintenance and Support

Oversees the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of the Departments information systems and technology.

Screens and evaluates updates to existing systems and technologies.
1. Data Backup and Recovery Operations
Manages cross-platform storage administration functions;
Designs and implements backup systems to maximize recoverability and reduce human intervention and the margin of error;
Ensures data availability and recoverability - Provide disaster recovery capabilities for the Departments environment that align to the Departments strategies for recovering IT systems, applications and data.
Provides disaster recovery planning and testing services; document procedures, verify software/hardware availability at the “alternate site,” and schedule and conduct periodic tests on each platform.

2. Technology/Telecom Procurement and Budgeting
Researches technology/telecom needs and retrieves quotes for hardware and software purchases, physical facility enhancements, etc. following proper state and agency purchasing and contracting regulations before funds are encumbered.
Prepares purchase order requests for technology/telecom procurement.
Make recommendations to the CICO about updating technologies.
Prepares plans to integrate new capabilities, technologies or processes into the administration of supported systems to meet the needs of the Department.
Coordinates with the CICO to prioritize technology/telecom expenditures to ensure cost effective and best use of agency appropriated funds.
Reviews vendor services and determines the best fit the Departments network services needs. Participates in negotiations of vendor service level agreements required to maintain network integrity and manages vendors services, as required.

3.End User Support and Technical Consultation
Provides technical guidance, training and advice to team members and others pertaining to supported systems.
Performs research or studies to maintain the technical knowledge necessary to be the acknowledged Subject Matter Expert on supported systems.

4. Hardware and Software Inventory and Surplus
Maintain the Departments asset inventory systems such as those for hardware, applications/software and software licenses.
Works with the Administrative Division staff to coordinate and oversee the surplusing of IT inventory.
Maintain vendor support contracts in a current status.

5. Assists with Development of IT Plans, Policies & Procedures
Serves as a subject matter expert for the formulation of IT Backup and Disaster Recovery Plans/Policies as well as assistance with training and testing of those plans.
Works with the CICO to ensure conformance with GTA standards, policies and guidelines, where appropriate.

6. Continuing Education and Professional Development
Seeks continuing education that supports the current and/or potential future technology needs of the Department.
Keeps up-to-date on technology trends by participating in conferences, online or classroom training, conferring with vendors.
Engage with peers, both within and outside Georgia state government, to remain informed of emerging issues and industry trends as well as to develop a networking resource.

7. Serves as a backup to the Network and Information Security Administrator where feasible, when necessary.
Assist with monitoring/configuring of spam filter appliance.
Assist with district users support issues (software/hardware installation, adding users to the domain, troubleshooting).
Assist with imaging machines, if needed.
With instruction, can access the firewall and make changes.
