This will be a phone screen followed by an in person interview. Skills: 1. Design Cell sites and Antenna design 2. CDMA, EVDO, and LTE 3. RF Propagation tools The RF Engineer position contributes to the RF design of the regional cellular, PCS and LTE network including: search area definition and issuance, antenna system design, candidate evaluation and assessment, and approvals within sector area of responsibility; improvements and redesigns for embedded base network areas to minimize capacity constraints; antenna optimization; working with various engineering and operations teams within network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place; partnering with System Performance to reduce LC and IA (Voice & EVDO) in assigned sector to meet and exceed VzW requirements; preparing timely FCC/FAA and regulatory submissions; providing cell translations configuration packages for new build and network growth; conducting analysis of regional population centers and drive data for candidate location, new site integration, and system optimization; performing radio engineering evaluation for system planning and site acquisition; creating and using RF propagation and planning tools; conducting and overseeing field tests for potential sites; planning frequency assignments and identifying technical parameters for network growth; documenting and reporting findings; planning near-term integration of new technologies for first applications in the network; identifying location-specific needs for new cells using appropriate methods to rank objectively; evaluating coverage problems and new service area requirements for coverage cells; using propagation modeling software to develop frequency plans and maximize signal-to-noise performance; identifying causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with system performance; attending zoning hearings in support of new cell site acquisitions; contributing in the development of long-term build plans; performing Macro/Micro Cell Design including antenna selection and placement; utilizing knowledge of CDMA, EVDO and microwave to contribute in network design; and assisting in the training and development of new RF and Associate RF Engineers. Qualifications •BS in Engineering (Electrical preferred), Computer Science or equivalent work experience required •MS in Engineering or technical field a plus •A minimum of 3 years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry •Extensive experience in RF Design including: CDMA, EVDO, LTE •Experience with RF Design and Performance data collection and post-processing tools •Experience with RF signal analysis tools including: vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, PIM analyzer, wireless communication test sets •Demonstrated knowledge of Telephony Switching, Cellular Architecture, and RF Theory •Demonstrated knowledge of BTS, MCPA, TMA, Antenna Structures and RF Cabling •Knowledge of In-Building Repeater and DAS systems a plus •Strong understanding of data network architectures and protocols •Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills •Proficient with RF design tools to include: GeoPlan, MapInfo, DeLorme •Proficient in MS office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook •Proven interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills. •Ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously •Work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed •Overnight travel may be required •Drivers license required   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
