The Tech Lead has 3 key responsibilities: • Provide technical direction/architectural interpretation for the dev team • Act as technical expert in Discovery events by providing technical direction/architectural input • Understand architectural vision (from Engineering) and communicate that vision with the dev team Essential Job Functions: • Tech leads will be accountable for capability and shared component code repository once received from the developers. · Complete code reviews. Ensure that Kroger standards are being adhered to. Ensure that education/code improvements are completed as part of the code review process and share within the team • Follow defined branching strategies. • Act as a mentor to the dev team to ensure continuous growth of the team. • Assist the dev team with more complex troubleshooting / debugging needs. • Provide technical direction/architectural interpretation for the development team. • Act as technical expert in Discovery events by providing technical direction/architectural input • Understand architectural vision (from Engineering) and communicate that vision with the development team • Ensure consistency and alignment of developers technical decisions, • Act as primary technical point of contact to minimize noise and distractions on the dev team - primary point person. • Represent team in Tech Talks and ensure learnings/communications are funneled to the development teams. • Collaborate with Product team as needed to ensure there is clarity in the requirements. • Collaborate with Architecture team as needed to ensure there is clarity in the design. • Negotiate sprint work and lead technical conversations for discovery, dev prep, and planning. • Answer technical questions others may have. • Accountable for their assigned GitLab code repositories and maintaining them in support of the branching strategy, dev branch updates, and pull requests· Facilitate collaboration between development and operations teams throughout the application lifecycle • Partner with Corporate Information Security to ensure all security policies and audit inquiries are addressed • Coordinate and align all other technology teams to ensure operational delivery processes are governed and monitored to expedite issue remediation Required Technical Skills: • Proficient in developing secure web applications and server side development using Struts, Spring MVC, JSP, Servlets, Java Beans, JavaScript, Ajax, XML, CSS, HTML, JDBC, Informix, SQL • Expertise in developing distributed applications using J2EE Application Servers such as IBM WebSphere and web servers like Apache Tomcat. • Skilled at designing & developing multiple interfaces by reuse of modules using MVC architecture. •Working experience on Unix commands, Shell Scripts & Groovy.
