Duties include developing requirements and detailed application specifications; designing and developing new custom applications on different platforms; serving as a technical resource for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) implementation and production support efforts; analyzing and modifying existing applications; debugging complex applications; writing test plans and testing; designing and supporting relational database structures; writing SQL scripts for database queries; writing, testing and executing disaster recovery plans; providing complete technical and user documentation; training users; and providing operations and maintenance support for production applications/information systems. Responsibilities include producing deliverables for all phases of the standard application development project life cycle, from functional requirements through final implementation. Must have in-depth knowledge in standard development tools, programming languages, and technologies such as: HTML, XML, CSS, XSL, JavaScript, VBScript, AJAX, Java, ASP, ASP.NET, VB.NET and C# .NET; web services standards SOAP, UDDI, WSDL and HTTP; Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above; data access connectivity through ADO.NET; Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and 2010; Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 or above; Enterprise Service Bus; Microsoft IIS; Microsoft SQL Server Reporting; and Crystal Reports. Duties also include participating in project planning and estimating efforts; consultation and planning for specific modifications and enhancements to production applications/information systems; monitoring technical project activities for adherence to schedules, milestones and deliverables; making recommendations to management on enterprise development practices, standards and tools; providing status and time reporting; adhering to state, departmental and divisional standards and procedures; and performing application/information system assessment and performance monitoring to avoid preventable interruption of production and to provide optimum quality service to the clients. This position is expected to work with a diverse set of clients and provide strong overall analysis/programming support for a number of complex applications/information systems. The position may be reassigned to support different applications as necessary to support the departments critical needs and changing priorities or to uplift older versions and technologies used in the current environment to newer versions and/or state-of-the-art technologies. On call and overtime may be required dependant on client automation needs. * 1.
