The Government Information Center (GIC) is seeking a Web Developer to build responsive websites and applications that help promote Delaware programs, services, and quality of life to our residents, businesses, and visitors. The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function according to client specifications. This position will work across state government agencies to develop HTML, Javascript, JQuery, PHP and custom Wordpress themes designed by our Creative Team. This position will work in a team-based environment, working closely with our Creative Team, and will report to the Director of Web Development. Candidates selected for interview should be able to attend a round one, in person interview with 2 days notice. Serve as the core web developer for GIC and innovate and improve state agencies website presence. A Bachelors Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience is desired. Successful candidate will be able to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. This position is primarily based in Dover, Delaware but some travel to New Castle County is expected. Job Requirements: • Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI and UX and the differences between the two, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility standards for state government, general web functions and best practices. • Must be able to take a high fidelity web design mockup from a PSD or Adobe XD file and translate it into usable code. • Design and implement websites from initial concept, site architecture, and user interface to finished deliverable. • Experience WordPress development including theme and individual template development, plugin tweaks, new feature development. • Deep expertise and hands on experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, XML, and APIs. • The position requires constant communication with the internal GIC team. • Candidate must also be able to work independently, as well as part of a team to establish project deliverables. • Experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units. • Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to websites and applications. • An ideal candidate will also have a passion for connecting citizens and communities to the programs and services they need. Required Qualifications 3 years experience minimum: • Current/recent professional experience programming HTML5 on cross-browser design • WordPress experience that includes building custom themes/templates, etc • Prior experience building websites to exact specs using a mockup • CSS3 Programming experience • PHP Programming • Bootstrap framework • Responsive Website design • JavaScript, DOM, JQuery framework experience Highly Desired Skills/Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of preprocessors LESS and SASS • Prior experience using React.js • Prior experience using Angular.js   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
