Job Description Engineer: Cassandra, AWS, Python, Configuration Management

Responsibilities

· Creating, installing, and configuring Cassandra cluster, as well as other day-to-day database operation tasks.

· Monitoring cluster health and performance, performing diagnostic and troubleshooting.

· Backup and restoring data to secure the system in the event of failure or env clone.

· Conducting a stress test /benchmark test before and after deployment and interpreting the performance results.

· Using the tools to perform common operation tasks such as node sync and data repair.

· Maintaining team documents and run-book/playbook.

· Our job descriptions evolve with our business need and priorities. In addition to the description above, your role may include additional projects and team support as needed.

Experience required

· Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

· 2-3 years of experience building, administering and managing mission-critical high available/high volume production run on Cassandra OSS or DSE.

· 1+ years of experience AWS implementation. Solid knowledge of EC2, ASG, SG, EBS, S3, IAM, Cloudwatch and Lambda.

· Excellent communication skills oral and written.

· Solid knowledge of database concepts, Linux system concepts, NoSQL concept and data models.

· Experience of configuration management tools such as Terraform (preferred), Salt, Ansible, Puppet or Chef.

· Strong skill set on one or more programming languages: Java, Python or Go.

· Preferred knowledge with Linux OS, KVM, Docker and Kubernetes, etc.

· Preferred knowledge with storage system (NFS, SATA, SSD, etc.)

· Strong ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.

· Strong ability to learn quickly new technologies and business functions.

· Ability to work with Agile and Lean Practices.
