All candidates must have great communication. The network engineer is ultimately responsible for the full system implementation and administration of telecommunications equipment and has complete understanding of the OSI model and how it is applied through data networking. The role will require the engineer to interpret the business requirements and configure changes to network equipment and document the results, providing supervision to junior network engineers. The position requires very clear written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work closely with network architects, network project managers, and management. As a key member of a team or as an independent engineer, the engineer will utilize all aspects of the network equipment as well as maintaining and improving their technical skills with new skills and capabilities. This candidate will have a full understanding of all components in a network environment. The candidate is an expert at explaining and developing new network concepts for management, providing a business view of highly complex technical ideas in business terms articulating potential risks, benefits, costs and an understanding of effort required. Preference given to those with long term demonstrated hands-on expertise in Cisco ASA. Prerequisites: Certifications CCNA, CCNP Minimum of three years hands on network administration with specific experience in the following areas: o Layer 2 switching with use of protocols such as ISL, STP, MSTP, LLDP or CDP, HSRP, VTP and others o Complex problem solving LAN issues by systematic diagnosis of user descriptions or network symptoms to resolution o Layer 2 troubleshooting expertise with techniques and tools using symptom identification using tools like PING, traceroute, ARP, SSH, TELNET, TFTP and others Minimum of three years working with Cisco ASA. Basic Requirements: Minimum of three years directly related and progressively responsible experience building, testing and deploying complex enterprise network solutions; Minimum of three years of hands-on network support, an enterprise operations team member with in-depth experience in working in a data center, or on enterprise LAN environments, providing supervision to junior engineers, administrators. Ability to handle multiple assignments, delegate requirements, meet deadlines and exercise independent judgment Use and deploy a wide variety of network support tools such as packet capture, IP netflow capture, IP address management tools, port mirroring, and monitoring software for fault detection. Solid grasp of the routed and routing protocols and many of the common requirements, settings, and configurations within a large and complex network. Significant knowledge and 3-5 years hands-on experiences with network security devices such as firewalls (ASA), IDS/IPS, application firewalls. Complete understanding of wireless LAN design and support, WLAN management systems understanding Express difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing Task delegation to other resources such as network administrators, other engineers Writes clear, logical reports, and instructions Writes clear and logical network documentation Works independently on assigned projects Work effectively and cooperatively with administrators, staff, users, project consultants and vendors Meet established priorities and schedules Preferred Qualifications: Possess a bachelors degree in engineering or business fieldBachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Management Information Systems is preferred Cisco network functional and configuration knowledge a plus.
