Job Description Engineer: Cisco, System Integration, VPN, Juniper IP Network Technologies DNS

Client: British Telecom, on-site at Credit Suisse
Location: NYC
Contract: Minimum 6-12 months, extensions highly likely.

[Note : **Job description is very long, but client is basically looking for a very good hands-on Sr Cisco Network Engineer**]

Job Description:
Engineers are responsible for providing Network Security and Services to the firm based on requests and needs of the business. Act as lead engineers for their respective functional area and fill in for their managers when they are unavailable. They also act as liaisons to engineers in the Architecture and Engineering department and have responsibility for change review and approval. They also liaise with Project Manager for input and completion of critical requirements /scoping documentation for project initiation.

These services include but are not limited to:
-Security / Firewall, VPN services and associated technologies
-Routing / Switching technologies
-Load balancing technologies
-IP / DNS services
-Remote Access
-Wireless and Partner Area Network access

Responsibilities include:
Requirements verification:
-Meeting with IBIT, Systems Integration, MDES, GWS, and other IT departments to gather technical requirements, business justification for projects
-Understand and negotiate project time frames
-Verify technical requirements for large projects
-Guide and mentor junior engineers with their projects

Solution design:
-Evaluating available technology options and selecting those that best suit requirements of the business
-Discussion of requirements with Senior engineers and managers as required
-Produce project costing estimates
-Produce detailed design of infrastructure to meet the business requirements
-Fill out IT requisition paperwork to satisfy procurement processes
-Procurement and configuration of data networking equipment
-Discuss requirements that fall outside of standard networking technology offerings with System Integration group
-Primary liaisons between the Network Implementation team and the Network Global Product Services Engineering team
-Assist junior engineers with project costing estimates
-Generally the first to use new solutions provided by Network Global Product Services Engineering team

Implementation:
-Determining implementation time frames and risks - Coordinating and gaining consensus on change windows with change management and other IT teams and LBMs
-Submission and tracking of detailed Global Change Management tickets for implementation
-Coordinating the installation of equipment and connections with Move/Add/Change team
-Testing of network connectivity post implementations
-Generally the first to use new solutions provided by Network Technology engineering team

General support:
-Supporting Network Operations Center team with the restoration of normal networking functionality
-Escalate troubles to vendors and or Network Engineering group as appropriate
-Support of network infrastructure and testing following yearly data center power downs
-Escalate troubles to vendors and or Network Engineering group as appropriate

Other:
-Lead the Network Change Review (NCR) meetings for their specific group
-Senior engineers act as a stand-in for their specific groups manager when that manager is not available / out of the office
-Responsible for change signoff for their specific group
