Job Description : It is immediately seeking a Mainframe Architect supporting one of our largest Enterprise Government Integrator clients in the Woodlawn, MD area. Client: Enterprise Government Integrator Location: Woodlawn, MD Compensation: Competitive based on years of relevant experience Responsibilities (include but not limited to): To enable several technology transformations, the underlying architecture of the core platforms need to be to be analyzed and evaluated for their ability to support initiatives. The mainframe architect will assist in developing appropriate solutions for assessing the mainframe batch architecture and CICS configuration for optimization, eliminating dependency from VSAM files, and creating copies of VSAM data files in the cloud. Additional responsibilities include: Provide support to review the inventory of mainframe batch applications and VSAM files, and understand and document their interdependencies. Provide support to review the current architecture of CICS applications and provide an approach for remediation of multi-thread limitations. Provide technical recommendations to remove dependency from VSAM files. Provide technical solutions to optimize the mainframe batch architecture and CICS configurations. Analyze current VSAM data files architecture and develop potential solution options to stand copies of VSAM master files in the Cloud. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and technical experts to understand the current state architecture and document existing architecture patterns and major architectural pain points, and define architecture patterns applicable for future state. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and 7 years of relevant work experience; Masters Degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or a minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 7 years of experience on CICS optimization assessments, CICS architectural analysis, and recognized expertise in the field of IBM CICS optimization. Minimum of 7 years of experience on mainframe platform modernization, specifically mainframe batch applications architecture optimization, and application architecture assessment in a multi-platform organization. Minimum of 5 years of experience in migrating applications to cloud. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with mainframe technologies, such as COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance Preferred Qualifications: Expert knowledge of SSA Cloud architecture. Expert knowledge of SSA CICS architecture in a z-System hardware environment. Ability to quickly understand government specific architectures, existing and proposed, and provide solutions for future state. Access to an IBM center of technology and experts Demonstrates superior oral and written communications skills in order to clearly and effectively convey issues, reports, and other deliverables to senior leadership. Demonstrates the ability to define complex problems and analyze and develop plans and requirements in the subject matter area related. Self-starter, highly motivated individual, effective communicator and a team player with the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
