Handles and leads the most complex or critical data/ database management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and multiple business groups, including responsibility for database architecture, design, integration, and/or data modeling. As the recognized technical expert, consults extensively with multiple client groups to provide strategic solutions, influencing long-range internal and enterprise-level data/ database architecture and management strategies. Serves as a consultant on technological advancements. Provides oversight, mentoring and leadership to less experienced staff. Will work with our data architect(s) and Data Architecture Committee to develop data design policies, procedures, naming conventions, and other reference materials. Will assist with analyses on a variety of data management and data governance projects. (e.g. Information Classification and Security, Records Retention, etc) Will assist in developing & implementing meta-data strategies & tools Will assist in creating enterprise logical data models from existing physical data models Will collaborate with data architect and systems developers on project data models as requested Will assist in maintaining existing library of data models Minimum Qualifications: 3+ years data analysis and database design experience. Must have working knowledge of data modeling theory and terminology, data design technology, and physical database design principles. Must be able to create and maintain logical and physical data models. Must have experience with ERwin or similar data modeling tool. 5+ years general analytical experience Must have excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills. Must be able to abstract logical/generalized concepts from detailed documents and diagrams, perform analytical comparisons, and present results in an organized manner. 3+ years experience working with one or more database management systems (such as SQLServer, Oracle, Progress and/or DB2) Experience should include using SQL, TSQL or PL/SQL to create and modify database objects. Experience with mulitple DBMSs is a strong plus. 1+ years application/systems development experience Must be familiar with SDLC concepts (software development life cycle). Must have personal working knowledge of how software applications are created/tested/implemented. Communication skills Must have excellent communication skills, including consulting, mentoring and preparing formal written documents. Must be able to author and present documents, spreadsheets, diagrams, and presentations. Should have experience providing data design consulting and support to IT teams. Work Style Must be able to work independently without close supervision and be able to complete assignments within agreed upon timeframes. Must have initiative to seek out "next steps" in addition to assigned task. Must be willing to roll up sleeves & work hands-on in addition to consulting.
