Analyzes database and information needs of projects and applications in order to recommend and implement cost effective solutions that minimize redundancy and maximize availability of data This includes project analysis, database engine selection, code reviews, design, architecture review and modeling, and integration of the information as it relates to the business requirements for transactional and reporting purposes. This person is experienced at identifying problems/issues and is highly effective at pursuing and suggesting alternative solutions in a wide range of cloud services and database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB Supports cloud databases by providing expertise to maintain and enhance while working with the GBS & T and Business support teams. This will include participation in rotating 24x7 coverage and after hours support. Takes a lead role in strategic information planning efforts to define TRPs efforts and future in areas related to cloud data architecture (i.e.DBMS Platform, Quality, Metadata, Stewardship, Security, Availability, and Compliance etc.) Engages appropriate Global Business Solutions & Technology (GBS & T) and Business staff to ensure consistency across TRP and communicates effectively with all interested parties. Engages appropriate vendors for briefings on technology direction and architectural vision. Provides cost estimating for any potential projects that are defined and assigned. Acts as a liaison between GBS & T and the multiple business areas. Communicates well with customers, maintains positive relationships with business unit contacts and other GBS & T departments, handles customer inquiries and solves problems quickly. Develops and extends the teams reputation as a state-of-the-art Information Services organization by attending and making presentations at local and national user groups and conferences, publishing articles describing both the enterprises activities and assessments of technology, and participating with vendors in the assessment of advanced cloud features. QUALIFICATIONS Required 7+ years experience as a DBA in a large scale UNIX environment Experience working in a on call rotation providing 24/7 support Experience must include: installation, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, space management, SQL tuning and production support In depth understanding of deploying infrastructure as code leveraging Terraform, Vault, and AWS CLI scripting. Comprehensive knowledge of relational database technology, open source database technologies such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB. .
