Position Summary: Database Application Developer is responsible for developing database applications in Oracle and SQL Server databases to aid application development under client-server/SOA architecture supporting ETL operations, data replication, event-based data forwarding and queueing for databases operating in transactional and data warehousing environments. Database Application Developer will also take on basic DBA activities in managing databases. This position requires technical level expertise as well as the ability to interface with users of all levels. The Database Application Developer is responsible for developing application code running on the Oracle and MS SQL Server RDBMS systems, which hosts CLIENTs proprietary applications across all business units. Principle Accountabilities: · Develop data/ER models and create database objects. · Develop and maintain application modules on Oracle and MS SQL Server RDBMS systems using SQL,PL/SQL,T-SQL. · Create ETL modules to sync/aggregate data to be scheduled on a regular frequency. · Write OS shell scripts using Bash shell on Linux and PowerShell on Windows. · Monitor scheduled jobs via generating email alerts. · Work with the team to investigate, determine and help resolve performance related issues in DBMS systems. · Carry out data modifications to databases as directed by helpdesk personnel. · Attend to basic DBA activities like backup/restore of databases, install/upgrade/patch database installations, monitor database alerts, etcetera. Decision Making: The Database Application Developer is required to make independent decisions based on sound industry practices and existing corporate regulations. The Database Application Developer is expected to drive performance of the team to meet goals. The Database Application Developer is expected to take general directions, and from those directions make decisions as to his/her approach to completing assigned projects and is expected to determine how to operate and conduct assigned tasks within the established standards and procedures. Interactions with Customers and Contacts Internally, the Database Application Developer works closely with the application development team to execute assigned projects and provide backend database development expertise. The Database Application Developer works closely with the application development team in carrying out complex projects and provides training and guidance to System Analysts. The Database Application Developer has limited external interaction. However, any interaction with customers and vendors is governed by CLIENTs business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectations for customers and by CLIENTs Commitment to Service of doing whats right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make. Position Requirements · College degree (B.S.) in computer science. · 3-4 years database backend application development experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS required. · Experience with developing backend application modules using PL/SQL and Java in Oracle and T-SQL in SQL Server required.
