Description: We are seeking a Snowflake Developer to assist in the creation of a client Data Lake on an Amazon Web Services platform. The Business Intelligence group is responsible for designing, building and maintaining the operational and analytical capability for the business. The data infrastructure is going through significant growth, and this is an opportunity to take a contributing role in shaping the business capability in this area. This business has been tasked with building a Data Lake on Snowflake hosted on AWS. This is a multi-year initiative which starts with foundational buildout in 2019 followed by prepared and curated layers. Responsibilities Participates in the development, improvement and maintenance of database applications both as an individual contributor and as a team member Designs batch cycle procedures on major projects using scripting and Control M Performs functional analysis for major projects supporting several corporate initiatives Acts as an expert technical resource across functional organizations and monitors performance of project plans Works with IT partners and user community for project definition Works on multiple platforms and multiple projects concurrently Performs independent technical analysis, debugging and troubleshooting. Performs code and unit testing for complex scope modules, and projects Serves as a technical resource for others Participates in rotating production support activities Required Qualifications Solid understanding of database engineering and design (Relational, De-normalized, Data Lakes, etc.) Five to eight years of Solid programming skills experience in database development (main focus is Oracle) Hands-on experience with at least one Snowflake implementation Strong Database experience in Oracle, Hadoop/Hive or DBMS (Snowflake, Netezza, NoSQL a plus) Experience developing data ingestion processes using Kafka Knowledge of AWS and Azure platforms 3 or more years of Development experience – Java a must, and experience developing Python (OR SPARK) based code that reads/writes data into databases Comprehensive experience with database systems and related software Experience with Control M (or similar job scheduling AutoSys) Ability to read and interpret physical data models Solid knowledge of DBMS optimizer and performance tuning techniques Ability to translate requirement documents into technical solutions Experience with CI/CD pipeline and SDLC Knowledge of Agile development Good communications skills in addition to being a phenomenal teammate Preferred Qualifications Developing ETL solutions (Informatica nice to have) Experience working with off-shore environments and Financial Services will be a plus.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
