If you or anyone you know is interested please email ckantowski@apexsystems.com Job Summary Under the general direction of the Lead Network Engineer, this position will provide support, maintain and install systems, equipment, software and processes necessary for LAN/WAN connectivity and communication. Provide advanced network infrastructure design including high availability, load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching. Resolves Tier II and Tier III level issues and problems associated with the LAN/WAN infrastructure. KEY RESULT AREAS Hardware repair, configuration and installation, Hardware/software purchasing, Hardware/software inventory management, Help desk support, Security support, Network monitoring and communications, Business Partner Support 7/24 technical support JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Under the direction of management, design and implement new load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching equipment to support end users at offices and branch locations using the appropriate tools, manuals and vendor support. Manage load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching to maintain desired capacity for existing and new applications. Recommend bandwidth changes for network improvements along with maintaining proper IOS levels for stability, desired features, and security. Support the installation and repair of WAN data circuits to remote offices and ATM machines. Review utilization and availability reports using in house tools and third party vendor solutions to identify problems and take corrective action. Respond to Help Desk ticket assignments and Network Engineer I/II escalations in support of failed network systems and services. Troubleshoot end user connectivity or communication problems to determine root cause. Communicate with service providers for repair and corrective action. Review network diagnostic logs and assist making corrections of noted problems. Coordinate the installation of network cabling using established standards for the purpose of connecting all computer and related peripheral equipment to the network. Dispose or repair defective networking hardware by returning maintenance items to vendor using RMA process. Track all incoming and outgoing repairs Organize, manage, maintain and track communications hardware and software inventory records using Cisco Works along with internal inventory management system. Maintain current network diagrams and documentation as required to aide in ongoing support of complex inter-connected systems and equipment. Document new design standards and improvements on existing processes. Maintain currency with new vendor network hardware, operating system software, wiring and applications solutions. Assist with Security Engineering team security audits and remediate identified vulnerabilities and exposures. Design and participate in Business Resumption Readiness testing for internal business preparedness and external Business Partner connections. Work with end users, business partners and IT Management to provide current, accurate documentation of supported systems, and activities required in the event of a disaster.
