This includes work in the full software development lifecycle. The JPAS team shall perform maintenance activities of change management, problem management, performance management and capacity management. The JPAS team shall sustain and support the JPAS application in both the production and test environments. The JPAS team shall perform maintenance activities that includes completing maintenance and enhancement releases to the application and interface modules, technology refresh, technology insertion, technical obsolescence risk management, resolution to identified security issues, and data correction requests. The JPAS team shall use the HP process and procedures to complete all work. Specifically for this solicitation, the support needed is for a Production Support Sybase DBA. PROJECT SUMMARY: Position Overview: The successful candidate will participate in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting a U.S. Government contract that provides personnel security management to DOD. The position involves the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of Sybase databases, in both a development and a production environment. The candidate will need strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, and extensive experience in both UNIX and Sybase administration. Experience in Sybase 15.x required. Essential Function: The candidate will be involved in the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of Sybase databases, both in a development and a production environment. In addition, he/she will be involved in production deployments of the application, COTS tools, and database changes. Off hour work is therefore required for deployments and on-call rotational duties. Support in creating the deployment plans and installation instructions, along with process documentation, is expected. Strong technical leadership capabilities, data analytical skills and experience with the ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal is a must. Extensive experience of UNIX, Shell scripting, stored procedures, and relational databases is critical. Must be able to work in a team environment and work independently with minimum management oversight. Must possess high energy and have a strong motivation to make a difference. The work is fast paced with changing priorities. Task switching without loss of productivity is a must. Completion of assigned tasks is expected without constant review. FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF CANDIDATE NEEDED: Pre-Requisites: Must have a current DoD Top Secret clearance Must have a current Security+ certification Must have a current Sybase ASE 15 certification (if currently has older cert, must obtain within 6 months) Talented Database Administrator with at least 4-5 years experience supporting Sybase in a Sun Solaris environment. Experience with either Sybase Replication or Sybase High Availability is required; both are preferred. Experience supporting a production system/database is required. Experience in creating and executing Disaster Recovery Plans is highly desired.
