Database Architects are familiar with a variety of the database technologies, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Database Architects are able to perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal or no direct supervision. They assist in defining system and application architecture and provide vision, problem anticipation, and problem solving ability to organization. They consult with the client to define needs or issues, conduct research, perform studies and surveys to obtain data, and analyze problems to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of specific discipline or field of specialization. Years of Relevant Experience: • 8 plus years of database experience Preferred Education: • 4 year college degree in computer science or related field with advanced study preferred. Role Description: • Uses SQL Server tools, including SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, to refine the design and implementation of the data warehouse system for reporting on services to homeless individuals in Ohio. • Reviews data files submitted by participating agencies and identifies problems, e.g., missing data, incorrect data, structural issues, etc. Works directly with agency representatives to resolve the problems, making adjustments to the data warehouse design as appropriate. • Conducts thorough testing of the data warehouse data intake processes, through staging, to production. Makes changes to the design and implementation of the data warehouse and SSIS packages as needed to address errors. • Performs systems analysis on database, and resolves performance, capacity, replication, error-handling, and archiving issues as necessary. • Gathers requirements for data warehouse reports, conducts research and suggests third-party reporting tools, and constructs reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) as needed. • Participates in multi-agency meetings and gathers requirements for the data warehouse. Follows up one-on-one with agency representatives when necessary to refine requirements or provide training on aspects of the data warehouse. • Serves as an expert resource on data warehouse systems in meetings with OHFA staff and staff from other agencies. Evaluates proposals on new features and reports from other agencies and suggests an appropriate course of action. • Develops and maintains data warehouse documentation, including process flows, detailed process descriptions, naming conventions, etc. General Characteristics: • Possesses extensive knowledge of one or more database systems, and is capable of hands-on work in all phases of database design and management. • Communicates complex concepts clearly and effectively to staff at all levels of the organization. • Demonstrates strong initiative and capability for independent work.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
