Job Description Administrator: Database Design, Db2 dba, .Net,

SCOPE OF WORK:

The selected Contractor shall ensure that delivery of services are performed in a professional manner in accordance with, but not limited to, the following:
• Use of sound professional judgment;
• Demonstrate leadership in quickly and effectively resolving technical and project issues;
• Provide thorough, complete knowledge transfer to agency staff;
• Provide timely, accurate and informed communications;
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate on all aspects of the tasks assigned to multiple levels of stakeholders (ex: technical, managerial, and executive levels);
• Regularly complete and update task artifacts;
• Regular, punctual attendance at all scheduled meetings;
• Creation of high quality deliverables; and
• Successful delivery of the agreed-upon task scope.

DELIVERABLES :

As requested by the Agencys Work Order Manager, the selected Contractor shall provide, at a minimum, the following deliverables:
• Time and resource estimates for completing tasks, which must be documented in writing and include a detailed description of the work to be performed.
• Review current physical implementations of DB2 objects and suggest possible corrections based on best practices. Provide mechanism to make these corrections (DDL, DML, JCL etc.).
• Work with agency DBA and project team to create/modify DB2 objects throughout the project.
• Create, document (narratives, JLC, etc.) and test, where appropriate, backup and recovery plans and procedures which include but are not limited to:
o Create a point of consistency.
o Recover system and data objects to a point of consistency.
o Backup up the DB2 catalog and directory and Agency data.
o Recover the DB2 catalog and directory and Agency data.
o Recover from out-of-space conditions.
o Recover from a hardware or power failure.
o Recover from various DB2 for z/OS problems.
• DB2 operational concept documentation describing the basic commands available to assist the DBA with all aspects of operating a DB2 z/OS subsystem, understanding the DB2 message identifiers, and the various tools available to issue these DB2 commands.
• System documentation on the ways the agency submits work to DB2 (e.g. submitting work by using DB2I, running TSO application programs, running CICS application programs etc.).
• Standard operating procedures for monitoring and controlling DB2 and its connections.
• Documentation of the DB2 security plan for managing access to data stored in DB2.
• Documentation of typical DB2 z/OS DBA administrative tasks to be scheduled on a recurring basis (narrative, stored procedures, JCL etc.).
• Identification of tools to be acquired that are considered part of a DB2 DBA toolkit to effectively administer DB2 z/OS.
• Knowledge transfer to Agencys staff through system documentation, weekly updates and formal presentations

The Candidate proposed MUST possess the following experience and qualifications:

1. Licensed to perform work in the State of Washington;
2. Candidate proposed must be available to perform work on-site in Olympia, WA, on an as-needed basis during the initial term of the Work Order;
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience with physical database design and maintenance using DB2 for z/OS, with a minimum of 2 years experience using DB2 9 for z/OS;
4. Experience as a DB2 DBA supporting .NET development (preferred) or Java development;
5. Capability and commitment to document and transfer knowledge of their work; and
6. Ability to work directly and indirectly with other team members.
