The Senior Software Developer will perform development focusing on the user interface of the public facing COVID-19 School Report Card. This will include ensuring the interface adheres to all New York State Guidelines, load times are within acceptable ranges, the look and feel is intuitive and easily navigated by the average person. The Senior Software Developer will perform coding, testing, debugging, implementing, and documenting highly complex programs, and developing complex test plans to verify logic programs; develop and maintain release management process including planning, tracking, communication, and coordination of technical tasks associated with release. The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and performance of this application, along with development of enhancements and security assessments. The Senior Software Developer will perform Java application development tasks in a multi-tiered environment including researching and documenting technical designs, programming solutions, writing, and executing unit test plans, researching, resolving, and testing defects, customer technical support, and close collaboration with other team members. The Senior Software Developer will review business requirements documentation with supervisors to ensure clarity in implementation of technical design; implement systems and program design to meet highly complex business needs and technical design document; create appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code and technical documentation; assist the technical manager in development time estimates and assigned tasks; troubleshoots complex end user technical issues, identifying problems and leading solutions; implement release management process including technical steps to promote, test and release through the development environment, coordinating with infrastructure staff. Mandatory Qualifications: Is involved with all facets of the software development process, including the research, design, programming, testing, and implementation of computer software. (60-84 months): Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education. Preferred Qualifications: 84 months experience in overseeing development progress on medium to large-scale technical projects and assuring deliverables and project scope are met and well documented. 84 months experience in application design, coding, testing, maintenance and debugging skills and strong experience with Java 8/J2EE distributed application development, REST, and domain model Microservices, Spring Boot, and API gateway 84 months experience in API design and implementation (remote vs local APIs, routing and reverse proxying, load balancing, and optimization techniques) 48 months experience creating cloud native application design that can include aspects such as containerization, API First, Serverless and microservices architecture. 60 months experience designing secure applications using security APIs, transport and message layer security, encryption, and decryption algorithms for data security, SAML and multi factor authentication. 48 months experience with developing within a cloud environment, must have good knowledge on cloud infrastructure including AWS or GCP. 48 months experience of application development with Angular 2.x or greater. This position requires at least a bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent in a relevant technology field from an accredited institution.
