Description:

MHBE / Project Background
The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) created a website and call center operating under the name Maryland Health Connection (MHC). Through MHC, Maryland residents explore health insurance plans, compare rates, and determine their eligibility for advanced premium tax credits (APTC), cost sharing reductions (CSR) and public assistance programs such as Medicaid and the Maryland Childrens Health Insurance Program (MCHP).
MHBE seeks up to one (1) Senior Systems Architect to provide system and enterprise architectural services for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (HBX) system.

Duties / Responsibilities
Designs and configures Linux based server infrastructure, cloud services, database to build enterprise system architectures.
Develops and implements plans for migrating Linux based solutions.
Develops technical reference models to include hardware and software standards.
Provides direction and supervision to the IT team members in implementing secure Linux Platform applications, evaluates security hardening on Linux Systems.
Designs Linux OS level automation solutions using scripts.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of system architecture, provides innovative code development approaches, supports programming, database development and application integration efforts.
Performs and verifies Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6 and 7 server systems installation, configuration, optimization, security hardening and administration for servers running on Amazon Web Services Cloud Environment.
Designs, configures and manages DNS for Linux servers, Kerberos Authentication with Active Directory.
Provides guidance for implementing secure Linux solutions using SELinux, Firewalled, iptables etc.
Adhere to all security, change control and MHBE Project Management Office (PMO) policies, processes and methodologies.
Note: The candidate must have the flexibility to work overtime, as needed, to include weekends, holidays, and off-hours.

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of seven (7) years of solid hands-on Unix/Linux experience that includes specific technical experience with Red Hat systems for large scale Enterprise UNIX environments.
A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in building both physical and virtual servers in multiple data centers and in the cloud, troubleshooting and tuning for performance along with exercising best practices for Unix/Linux environments.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience designing and performing security hardening Linux based environments with FIPS 140-2 mode and optimizations on Red Hat Linux environments.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience integrating Red Hat Linux servers within Active Directory Domains.
A minimum of three (3) of experience in Shell scripting and automating tasks on Red Hat Linux.
A minimum of two (2) years of hands on experience working on Amazon Web Services including EC2, VPC, S3, IAM for building and managing virtual servers.

Preferred Qualifications

Architect, Systems (Senior) A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in installing, managing and upgrading Red Hat Linux or similar Unix server environments in large enterprise systems including security hardening using industry standards.
A minimum of six (6) years of experience in designing and implementing Unix/Linux server environments for large enterprises including Servers, Domains, LDAP, DNS, Security.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in various services and products available via Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, IAM, ECS, Mi
