The Advanced Build Engineer will provide technical expertise in the planning, design and implementation of the companys UNIX (RedHat Linux) environment. Drive forward the Server and Storage roadmap incorporating all UNIX services, technologies. Accomplish project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities, focusing on technical strategies, innovation, forward & lateral thinking. Additionally, maintain and follow all relevant procedures and documentation, reviewing and updating where required. Ability to configure and deploy Linux-based complex infrastructure solutions, create supporting documentation and able to deconstruct environments within a Lab setup to aid troubleshooting or test recommended platform upgrades. Key Responsibilities / Duties:

· Determine requirements, develop specifications, architect a solution and implement it.

· Manage the entire lifecycle of Unix/Linux servers via DevOps via Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using tools such as Puppet and Ansible.

· Participate in project teams to represent the UNIX SMEs and provide input on project architectures

· Experience developing shell scripts and other languages such as BASH, Python and Ruby as needed for the automation of UNIX system tasks

· Coordinate with application developers and platform owners to provide Linux environments needed to support the development and deployment of applications, databases and backup strategies.

· Secure servers to meet federal regulated requirement for audits in Financial, Investments and Banking industries. · Act as a technical touch point for members of the team, offering guidance, coaching and support.

· Ensure project status reports to stakeholders are submitted by ensuring regular and accurate blogging and updates of projects and activities.

· Ensure project deliverables are clearly defined, planned, prioritised & kept on track and within scope.

· Make sure that each stage of a deliverable is progressing on time and to the relevant quality/standards.

· Work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s).

· Ensure project documents are completed, current, appropriately stored and handed over to the Operations team within the relevant timescales

· Ensure operational standards are adhered to. This includes actively looking to continuously improve working practices to ensure the team works as efficiently as possible.

· Follow team procedures, identify gaps and resolve effectively. Including the Business/Disaster Recovery program Work Experience / Knowledge:

· IAC tools such as Packer, Git, Puppet are a must, Terraform and Ansible are desirable.

· Expert in Red Hat Linux systems administration.

· Knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows interoperability tools such as Centrify, Samba and SMB

. · Proficient in Red hat Linux monitor performance and troubleshooting

· Experience in an Enterprise support environment · Experience in deploying servers using native tools such as satellite

· Design, install, configure, and maintain virtual environments on VMware for Linux workloads

· Strong understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing

· Working Knowledge of Enterprise Linux engineering functions in designing and maintaining is desirable · Knowledge in bitbucket and bamboo is desirable · Knowledge of ELK stack, Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana is desirable

· Knowledge of general storage technologies: iSCSI, FC, FCoE, NAS, Snapshots, SAN-SAN replication is desirable · Experience of Deploying patches and updates using both native and 3rd party tools
