The Infrastructure Leads role is to manage and tune in-house or hosted environment computer software systems and network connections to ensure stable operations, high levels of availability, and security of the supported business applications and agency IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The Infrastructure Lead will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements, as well as a working knowledge of the skills to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud services. Responsibilities Strategy & Planning • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements. • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the management team. • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts. • Perform network design and capacity planning. • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. • Establish service level agreements with business units. Acquisition & Deployment • Coordinate with business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives. • Deploy workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems. • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific, and network products and services. • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. • Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures. • Prepare scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts. Operational Management Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.
