As a Technical Architect you will collaborate with developers, project managers, and product leadership to define new work, confirming intended outcomes for work to be completed, translating these from conversations into written guidance for implementers (which may be other members of the team). You will provide technical oversight and direction for development of Digital Services SaaS products including: Mass.gov (Drupal), Search.mass.gov (React), a unified web analytics platform, data visualization sites (Gatsby), VPC environments for data analytics projects (AWS), and REST and GraphQL APIs (AWS). Responsibilities: • Performs exemplary work, setting and refining expectations, standards, and guidelines for the teams approach and work product • Demonstrates deep subject matter expertise (SME) in at least two of the following areas: front end development, back end development, good software design and development practice, application architecture • Contributes to and advances “best practices” within Digital Services and outside of organization • Provides SME input into planning and estimates and for upcoming work • Participates in daily standups and other agile (scrum or kanban) routines • “Pulls” tickets on scrum or kanban board, frequently fulfilling technical recommendations and business requirements in first draft of work submitted for peer or stakeholder review • Collaborates with developers, project managers, and product leadership to define new work, confirming intended outcomes for work to be completed, translating these from conversations into written guidance for implementers (which may be other members of the team) • Provide technical oversight and direction for development of Digital Services SaaS products including: Mass.gov (Drupal), Search.mass.gov (React), a unified web analytics platform, data visualization sites (Gatsby), VPC environments for data analytics projects (AWS), and REST and GraphQL APIs (AWS). • Takes responsibility for the technical quality of an application, product, or project developed in-house or by outside vendors • Writes proof-of-concept code to prove (or disprove) an approach, or to inform technical recommendations • Builds consensus among developers, product/project management, and stakeholders on expectations, approach, and priorities • Provides exemplary guidance to team members in the form of requirements for vendors, technical recommendations and business requirements in tickets, and peer reviews to confirm or correct work in progress • Contributes technical vision to 3, 6, 12, and 24 month product and project roadmaps and staffing forecasts Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • 4+ years of experience working in an agile environment • Comfort with all of the following and deep hands-on expertise in a few (JavaScript, Python, PHP, Drupal, React, Gatsby, REST and GraphQL APIs, MySQL, Postgres, Akamai, CloudFlare (WAF and CDN), Amazon Web Services, Site reliability engineering, Data engineering) • Understanding of accessible design principles and Section 508 compliance • Able to work independently with cross functional teams, while providing consistency and reliability in process and outputs that other Digital Services teams expect from our Web Development practice • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and m   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
