We are currently recruiting for a Sr. Database Administrator. BASIC FUNCTION The Sr. Database Administrator is a key position that will help plan, design, implement, manage and maintain our Software-as-a-Service platform. In this role, the DBA will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the database systems for multiple product offerings with the Allscripts SaaS portfolio. This position includes frequent interactions with internal IS and support staff. The applicant must maintain a current skill set in MS SQL Server, Windows, and associated technologies, and excel in coaching and training team members, customers, and support personnel. Familiarity with ITIL is a plus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Implement, configure, and troubleshoot database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access. Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods. Set user privileges within the database environment. Ensure robust and resilient production capability to cost-effectively guarantee 99.99% availability. Responsible for capacity planning and hardware and software requisitions. Write/maintain scripts to automate database and Windows functions and document work performed. Manage Systems/Database within internal and external audit requirements (including SAS70) to ensure compliance Ensure that customer problems are dealt with expeditiously to maximize satisfaction. Oversee Database and Windows Server upgrades and overall maintenance. Train new technical staff to ensure effective on-boarding. Implement database and Windows monitoring and make performance recommendations. Help Developers write optimal code. Act as main interface for Technical support team. Work with Systems Engineers to install and configure Database Servers. Maintain and validate current Disaster Recovery practices. Develop and keep accurate documentation of processes, standards and baselines across SaaS environments, generating status updates of assigned projects and problems. Ensure adherence to all IT and department policy, processes and procedures, particularly security standards. Serve as highest level of technical escalation for SaaS system issues; work collaboratively with Support and Infrastructure teams, vendors and customers to rapidly restore service in case of service interruption. Perform root-cause analysis on service interruption; create recovery process and preventive measures. Participate in an on-call rotation that provides 24x7x365 coverage of mission critical systems. Interface with business stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues. Job Requirements: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or other relevant degree and 5 or more years related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
