The candidate will be needed to produce; maps, create and maintain SQL Server databases, create and maintain metadata, assist with developing and guiding staff. The desired candidate will perform the following duties: • Create and revise SQL Server databases and database schemas. (e.g., standard schema implementation, database migration, digitization of Division artifacts) • The position will be writing code and creating models with GIS to do geoprocessing tasks. • Represent Geo Survey in IT related procurements. Has enough familiarity with Geo Survey data and projects to facilitate procurements. • Assist with developing and guiding staff with complex geoprocessing techniques to save time or leverage data in new ways (e.g., Revise statewide mapping projects) • Complete geology specific GIS/technology training to develop expertise. • Create and manage metadata and coordinate with Geologic Records Center group to intelligently archive data and package it for delivery. • Create Supplementary map or figure as needed. • Operates GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS desktop software) to assist in viewing, assessing and editing data sets for Geo Survey. • Assists Geo Survey staff with data entry & data preparation; ensures GIS compliance with applicable standards for data capture, metadata, data manipulations & output; integrates historical maps with other spatial information; assists with quality assurance & quality control procedures integrated with the production & maintenance of GIS data; works on special Geo Survey project assignments as directed by manager.
