Job Description : Position Summary The UCPath Data Services Team within ITS is charged with the development and maintenance of the Business Intelligence Solutions serving the information needs of the University of California (UC) System which includes ten UC campuses, five UC Health Systems plus the Office of the President, Agriculture & Natural Resources (ANR), ASUCLA, Hastings College of the Law, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). The position requires considerable administrative and technical coordination in a highly complex technical and organizational environment, and results in systems designed to meet the UCPath corporate and campus business information and analytical needs. Under direction of the ITS UCPath Data Services Manager and other members of the team, the incumbent is responsible for the teams Cognos deliverables and the work associated in designing, building, testing, maintaining and improving the multiple UCPath Cognos cubes and reports. The incumbent is also responsible for the ongoing operational stability of the environment ensuring all components are properly monitored and audited to provide data integrity, accuracy and timeliness of delivery. A basic understanding of ETL development is also required. Job Duties Function % Duties Ess Duty? Cognos Development & Support 85% Manage and maintain the Cognos Version 10.2 environment as the Cognos expert. Create, enhance, and maintain Framework Manager models (relational and DMR) which connect to a star schema DB2 warehouse database, including packages designed for report development and for ad hoc Business Insight Advanced users, according to best practices. Collaborate with business users and members of the UCPath Data Services Team, including business analysts, data warehouse developers, and managers, to design and develop Cognos reports using Report Studio and/or Analysis Studio. Design and develop complicated reports including sub-reports, graphical reports, and well-formatted reports according to user requirements. Develop dashboards using Business Insight. Exhibit a commitment to data quality by validating results compared with the data warehouse database at each step of the development process. Administer the Cognos development, quality assurance, and production environments, including managing Cognos securities using Active Directory, the Cognos Connection folder structure, deployment of content from development to production, and report scheduling and bursting. Train and support Cognos end users on basic navigation in Cognos Connection, Business Insight Advanced, and report/package usage based on business requirements.
