Works harmoniously in a cross-functional team comprising managers, supervisors, business analysts, systems personnel, network staff, and other developers in ensuring the delivery of software solutions as planned, within set budget, and timely. Analyzes database requirements of the user department, applications programming and operations. Proposes detailed specifications and flowcharts and coordinates installation of revised or new database systems. Creates schemas and sub-schemas in consultation with application project team. Ability to apply an object-oriented programming language in creating applications. Works with Database Administrator, and other technology and business staff, to identify and transform business requirements into logical data models. Converts logical data models into physical databases. Works with DBA to perform, monitor and tune databases for performance, storage, and capacity for the future. Analyzes results in order to implement enhancements to the system. Develop, enhance, and comply with SDLC. Knowledge of Scrum methodology of agile software development and its application Conducts research and prepares recommendations for database tools, software, or hardware requirements. Ensures research and innovation at all levels of the software development process. Acts as a coach or mentor to junior software developers Certification in SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012/2016 and/or Cloudera Hadoop preferred, as well as knowledge of other database platforms including Oracle/DB2/Hadoop and ETL tools. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Evaluation, creativity, ingenuity and strong troubleshooting skills required. Ability to lead complex database projects. Knowledge of multiple relevant operating systems. Possesses and applies broad knowledge of concepts and principles or exhibits technical expertise in a specific area; works with minimal instruction or guidance with appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions; performs moderately difficult assignments with diverse scope and complexity, requiring a great deal of originality, creativity and problem solving with initiative and independent judgment required. Insurance and financial industry experience is preferred. Skills : 1. 3-5+ years of experience as a Hadoop/Big Data developer - ETL experience - SQL Server -Cloudera 2. Enterprise database implementation experience - Data Modeling - Optimization 3. Experience working with functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical assistance in developing the correct database architecture Responsible to provide database and application solution strategy, technical design, architecture, and support for carrying out the implementation of enterprise database development. Focuses on database modeling, optimization, modernization, and performance improvement. Evaluation and recommendation of data base-related software products within technical architecture framework. Work with the leadership of the functional team in assessing requirements and providing technical assistance for architecting, executing and developing the right database architecture. Implementation and support of requested database application development changes in the Microsoft SQL Server/Big Data solutions (Hadoop) on Windows environments.
