Description :

A senior-level web site manager is needed with experience in the migration of 4 websites from a legacy WordPress theme into the universitys latest. Tasks include content discover with client, construction of information architecture, user interface prototyping with templates, implementing accessibility/performance/security best practices, build of all pages (including meta data), installation of content, testing, project management participation, and business analysis to evaluate success. The selected candidate will:

Web Manager will assist in creating and managing digital materials to dynamically present new and fresh information to interested visitors.
Manage written content which includes well text, headlines, subtitles and media
Develop and support content written in HTML and displayed using CSS via WP Bakery page builder
Assist with Analytics interpretation, UI/UX Insights, SEO and Customer Service
Knowledge transfer to Georgia State
All work will be performed on-site at the customers as well as ITs locations at the Georgia State University campus. Deliverables will include written findings, recommendations, estimates, programming specifications, and weekly status reports using MS Word and Excel.

Position Overview

Georgia States management system, WordPress, is capable of serving content across a multitude of mediums including audio, text and video on a host of platforms and browsers. Website content is largely controlled by a web manager who creates and manages digital materials to dynamically present new and fresh information to possibly hundreds of thousands of interested visitors. An effective web manager must possess many technical and interpersonal skills as their job activities continually bounce between the WordPress administrators dashboard and meetings with website developers, communication teams and unit leadership.

A web manager wears many hats and operates in a landscape that is always evolving. In addition to the competencies and skills listed below, the best web managers are excellent at paying attention to the details of their job.

Writing Aptitude

The internet was built to share text and its precedence as a digital communication conduit remains high despite the numerous alternatives. The ability to manage written content is a web managers greatest need. Well crafted text, especially headlines and subtitles, draw a visitors attention to your content and allows a web content manager to connect with their audience. Something as simple as a strong headline will lead visitors to engage further with your content and brand. The heart of a web managers job is ensuring professionally written content is placed on their sites, and this aptitude must include strong proofreading and editing skills. As easily as good content draws visitors in, bad content can push them away. Web managers at Georgia State work alongside teams of writers and will benefit from technical project management experience in order to manage personnel and meet dynamic deadlines.
Technical Know-How

In general, the more technical knowledge a web manager can master, the better. A websites content is fundamentally written in HTML and displayed using CSS, so familiarity with markup and presentation makes for a better content manager. Being able to rely on oneself rather than outsourcing answers means a manager can spend more time crafting content and less time seeking help regarding anything related to their content.
