Description: As a Monitoring Engineer for the IT Infrastructure team, you will play an important part in ongoing development and delivery of the Enterprise Monitoring as a Service with specific focus on cloud and hybrid service monitoring. The cloud and hybrid environment monitoring require considerable effort to consolidate and automate desperate telemetry data into meaningful views/dashboards and reports, accessible to internal and external users. We are looking for creative and passionate individual to help us developing and spearheading a monitoring framework while collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders in this arena. What youll do • Evaluate, design, standardize, build, automate, and document adequate monitoring and alerting for complex client server hardware/software/database solutions consistent with established standards in hybrid environment. • Provide information/data for capacity planning, performance tuning and optimization when required for established systems. • Provide technical direction based on engineerings involvement with enterprise architecture. Set new standards to satisfy the enterprise technical roadmap. • Provide Tier III support in support of lower level engineers and administrators 24/7 for issues escalated to the highest level of support. Engage external vendor support as required. • Perform as a monitoring subject matter expert for client server technologies or databases in use at Premera, as well as remain knowledgeable in leading industry trends and technologies. • Make recommendations to management with regard to new third-party tools to meet evolving business requirements. • Lead and manage projects in collaboration with architecture and other IT teams to ensure that business requirements are met. • Take an active role in problem management where a change in the engineered design and/or architecture may resolve a root cause for a problem. • Coach and mentor junior Systems Engineers on the team What youll bring • Bachelors degree, preferably in a technical or scientific field, or four (4) years work experience • Seven (7) years IT related engineering experience • Familiarity with monitoring philosophy and best-practices • Monitoring experience of large scale hybrid environment (end-to-end monitoring) including IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS • Production experience in gathering, processing, and improving monitoring and performance metrics • Experience with automation/orchestration and service self-healing • Experience with a continues integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline process • Experience with API integration and troubleshooting • Experience with one of the following languages; PowerShell, Python, Java • Experience with cloud monitoring solutions (Azure preferred) • Proficient in creating dashboards for cloud services, along with application-specific metrics • Proficient in creating dashboards for detailed in-depth analysis and diagnostics • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as AppDynamics, New Relic, or Dynatrace • Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions (SCOM preferred) • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organization skills   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
