Complete Description: Position Description: The incumbent in this position serves as a senior IT system architect responsible for mobile computing solutions to meet the objectives of PennDOT. The IT Architects role is to develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture concerning mobile technologies. The individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from the strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The candidate will help PennDOT solidify strategies for mobile computing. The IT Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans. Responsibilities: • Serve as a lead infrastructure architect whose responsibilities include design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems • Oversee the IT Infrastructure evaluation, selection, design in order to support major applications development and production support tools and platforms • Develop architectural guidance for applications developers, define target platforms, interface designs, development patterns and styles, and development languages and tools to be used • Maintain in-depth knowledge of PennDOTs strategic business plans. • Provide architecture consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to System Analysts, System Engineers, and other IT Architects. • Document and develop in-depth knowledge of PennDOTs existing IT architecture/infrastructure • Develop, document, and communicate technology standards • Work closely with the Bureau of Business Solutions and Services and business owners to understand and develop business / functional requirements and corresponding technical solutions • Work independently and with other IT service providers in independent research, infrastructure design and development • Monitor industry trends and directions; develop and present substantive technical recommendations to Agency senior management. • Conduct research on emerging IT Technologies that will increase cost effective and infrastructure flexibility • Review existing PennDOT IT Technologies in order to understand how they are exploited along with providing recommendations of how to reduce cost along with suggestions to improve the IT infrastructure flexibility. Required Skills and Experience: • Required: 10+ years of professional experience in large scale, distributed environment w/ hands on exp in multiple technologies & multiple roles • Required: Minimum of 3 years as an IT Architect experience focusing on mobile technologies and the IT infrastructure required to support mobile applications • Required: 2+ years experience with Googles Android OS • Required: 2+ years experience with Apples iOS • Required: Fluent in high availability & recovery design, techniques, architectures, & technologies across IT technologies. • Required: Excellent interpersonal/verbal/written comm skills necessary for various audiences incl executive mgmt. • Desired: 2+ years experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server, Process Server, Message Queuing, Message Broker, DataPower SOA Appliances • Desired: 2+ years experience with IBM DB2 • Desired: 2+ years experience with Microsoft Sequel server 2005/2008 • Desired 2+ years experience with Oracle 10/11 • Desired: 2+ Windows 2003/2008 • Desired: 1+ z/Linux SLES OS • Desired: 1+ years experience with IBM FileNet • Desired: 1+ years experience with CA SiteMinder/CA Intergrator • Desired: Experience with Informatica Data   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
