Job Description : Title: Network Analyst (Connection Pattern Analyst) Location: McLean, VA Type of position: contract Length: 5 month contract- potential for extension Job Description: As a Connection Pattern Analyst, you will be responsible for processing and oversight of network connection requests leveraging established processes, procedures, and tools. Network connections are typically in the form of firewall rules or URLs, and may eventually include cloud based virtual firewalls such as AWS security groups. You will develop an in depth understanding of how the network has been constructed and how users, applications, and external service providers are interconnected. This knowledge will be required as you interact with connection requestors on a daily basis educating them on the process for submitting connection requests, how to ensure their connections are approved patterns, and submitting exceptions for non-approved patterns. You will also support reporting activities and updates to processes and procedures. Responsibilities and Duties: Work with IP address management, exception management, document repository, intranet sites, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other tools fluidly and efficiently Verify connection request details against systems of record to ensure they are accurately populated, work with the customer to correct of necessary Respond to customer requests for information or help in a timely manner, meet customer response time SLAs Work with customers as needed to resolve technical issues and provide guidance for how to proceed with a connection request Work with network and firewall engineering teams to resolve technical issues and develop solutions for new use cases or connection patterns Support exception remediation activities Follow documented processes and procedures for processing requests and interacting with customers Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience with a networking background Familiarity with OSI model and modern firewall capabilities such as firewall rules and network segmentation Solid understanding of IPv4, CIDR notation, RFC 1918 address space, IP subnetting / supernetting, subnet mask and slash notation Ability to view and interpret network and application architecture diagrams Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders Working knowledge of Network topology High level knowledge of ITIL/CMDB practices Strong Analytical and Reporting skills. Analyze data extracted from systems of record, summarize and enrich for reporting and tracking Experience leveraging workflow tools, meeting SLAs Nice to have: Working knowledge of modern firewall technologies including Checkpoint and Palo Alto Familiarity with cloud-based network security services such as AWS Security Groups, AWS VPC, Azure Network Security Groups, Azure VNET Familiarity with firewall audit and compliance tools such as Tufin Knowledge of ServiceNow   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
