These are multi-year, high priority, high visibility projects within IDPHs portfolio and all are in the initial stages. Both waterfall and agile methodologies will be employed to deliver these key initiatives. The department has identified multiple programs and capabilities that need to be built and/or upgraded to better protect the health of Iowans. The initiatives include: • Replace the Disease Surveillance System. • Upgrade the Professional Licensure application. • Establish a Project Management Office. Work with the PMO Lead and Team to establish PM standards across the department. • and more... The department has started a project to build a PMO from the ground up. This role will report to the PMO, which is part of the Bureau of Information Management. Responsibilities: Works with key stakeholders to understand the business needs, and creates a project management plan that aligns with the projects objectives • Oversees project plans that span multiple divisions within the department. • Creates project plans, project charters and project schedules • Maintains project objectives • Monitors production and quality to customer/stakeholder/sponsor standards • Identifies and resolves issues and risks • Reports on project progress, offers viable solutions and opportunities as they arise • Implements change practices • Manages resources to make sure schedule is on track • Facilitates Requests For Information and Requests For Proposal • Engages in contract negotiation with vendors • Develops Statements Of Work • Holds Vendors accountable for delivery • Lead meetings and set expectations for project team • Maintain budget • Reporting on projects and portfolios NOTE: • IDPH has returned to the office in a hybrid model allowing employees and consultants to work from home up to 60% of the time. • The department is building a new Project Management Office from the ground up and this role will take part in establishing best practices for their discipline. • This is a long-term contract role with the potential to become full time in the future. • You will be working with a team and a department that is motivated to build programs and capabilities to protect the health of Iowans.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
