Job Description Developer: Web Development, J2EE, Java, Hibernate Web Services

Birmingham, AL
- Opportunity with Sungard Software and IT Services (multi-billion dollar international Fortune 100 company)
- Skillset: Java, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services
- 12 month contract-to-hire (candidates must be able to work full 12 months and Sungard will then hire them on direct, sponsor and help them with their greencard)
- Interviews: 1st is phone, 2nd is in-person or video conference (will assist with flights if in-person)

Technical Skills

· Able to produce object oriented designs or enhance and re-factor existing designs with suitable approach.

· Experience with both front and back end frame works like Spring, Hibernate

· Sound knowledge of SOA practices using Web services. Prior experience with Axis or CXF framework.

· Knowledge of J2EE enterprise security standards

· Experience in writing Enterprise Java Beans

· Knowledge of Design patterns like Value objects, Session façade, Business delegate and DAOs

· Strong experience in JDBC concepts, connection pooling and interfacing with Database Stored Procedures

· Good knowledge of business transaction management

· Strong experience in MVC pattern as implemented with Struts or Spring based frameworks

· Working knowledge of Design patterns like Value objects, Session façade, Business delegate and DAOs

· Prior experience writing presentation tier with JSP, HTML, java script, AJAX, CSS, tag libraries and servlets

· Good working knowledge with JSF and Iceface extensions

· Good knowledge of working with XML

· Experience with JMS based application integration a plus

· Knowledge with writing plug-ins and working with BIRT reporting framework for Eclipse a plus

· Intermediate RDBMS knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server.

· Experience of working with version control systems – SVN,CVS and issue tracking systems such as JIRA

· Sun Java certification a plus

· Strong written and communication skills

· Experience in Financial services industry a plus



Development Responsibilities

· Translate business requirements into technical design using OOAD methodology

· Produce code artifacts to support the design

· Participate in design and code review

· Create, record and execute unit test cases for developed artifacts

· Follow development methodologies, processes and workflow using the JIRA tracking system

· Participate in Requirements and Code handoffs with the other groups in the Development lifecycle

· Communicate accurate status updates at agreed intervals. Including milestone updates, risks and technical challenges.

· Be part of the bug fix cycle for the issues reported on the released product deliveries



Minimum Requirements

· Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education

· 5 years of professional experience
