This team is responsible for the creation and evolution of the modern Advance Auto Parts service-based platform. Comprised of key core services including Catalog, Data, Order Management, Inventory, Commerce, Security and more, the platform will provide a structured way to develop and evolve service implementations. Key to this approach is the instantiation of an API-centric developer ecosystem that enables solutions to easily construct consumer-facing applications by accessing these platform services. With a product-centric discipline, the platform enables a framework to evolve back-end in services in parallel, ultimately driving faster agility and time-to-market of key features, enabling Advance Auto Parts Mission of having a “Passion for Customers. Passion for Yes”. The API Engineer will build new APIs, build integrations to existing systems, build API portals, and assist with the definition of technical tasks, estimates, and dependencies. You will be empowered to innovate and contribute to the definition of the standards, automation, and processes that will enable product teams to release features anytime they want. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Gather, understand and clarify complex business requirements Work with various systems and teams to understand integration requirements Implement enterprise integrations that result in a scalable, flexible, and highly available solution that performs well under high traffic Develop, test, and implement REST-based API solutions following best practices, patterns, versioning, and iterative design methodologies Understand and implement secure credential management options and proper encryption practices both in motion and at rest Control integration quality and develop ways to detect and correct anomalies with data exchanges Monitor integrations, properly alert colleagues and customers when processes fail or are experiencing degraded performance, and build solutions that can recover gracefully from interruptions in connectivity Assist project managers in the definition of technical tasks, estimates, and dependencies Work closely with peers, stakeholders, and end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction Plan for and work flexibly to deadlines Define and lead API governance strategies and technology adoption for the enterprise Design and develop new API-based integrations Maintain a leadership expertise on current technology, trends, and practices in API management and security Work closely with business partners, architect and technical groups to review, design, and implement requirements and strategy; provide estimates for development effort CAREER REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience Total of 8+ years in Application Development or Infrastructure Engineering At least 3 years of API development experience (with preference for Mulesoft/Java expertise) Mulesoft or other API Management platform experience is required Cloud (AWS, Azure, or similar) experience is required Strong familiarity with API management, Micro-services, Java/JEE application stacks Experience with DevOps technologies such as Jenkins / Circle-CI, Docker, Kubernetes, GIT, Maven, Ant, JIRA, etc. a must Strong troubleshooting skills a must Strong communication skills that effectively c   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
