This program will encompass multiple projects to modernize legacy systems within the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, which is responsible for billions in state revenue. Some of the major areas under modernization include: • Collections and Accounts Receivable • Taxpayer Accounting • Withholding Tax Returns Processing The position requires an expert level candidate to develop programs and functionality for the various tax systems being modernized. Qualifications: Software Developer - Is involved with all facets of the software development process, including the research, design, programming, testing and implementation of computer software. Expert 84+ months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field. 84 months of COBOL programming experience 84 months of JCL experience 84 months of IBM DB2 experience working with complex databases 60 months of IBM MQSeries experience 60 months of experience writing technical design specification documents for multifaceted component-based system 60 months of system analysis and design experience for multi-tiered transactional systems Day-to-Day tasks: Guiding the technical design for modernization of legacy systems. Coordinating the technical solutions among various technical support groups. Making changes in multiple systems in real time to enable changes requested by user group. Implementing technical solutions. Developing tax processing system components and maintaining existing processing systems. Supporting production tasks including analysis of issue, proposing and implementing solutions for defect resolution. Coordinating with development team on development activities and integration testing. Developing technical design documents and program specifications. Guiding requirements gathering sessions. Guiding the analysis of requirements and system design work. Coding, and performing unit and integration tests of programming assignments. Writing and tuning SQL Supporting user testing efforts.
