Job Description : Direct Manager Notes (PLEASE READ THIS SECTION) New system they are building is 100% cloud based – currently they are in AWS – person needs to have AWS experience plus Docker (all their applications are built in Docker) – Java is what they code in and Node.js would be a plus – this resource needs to have experience with all AWS services, Lambda, (not the creation part but the integration, fine tunings, other performance related configurations and best practices with respect to configuring these resources). Need to have a very good understanding of how each of these resources work in AWS – For the lead role the position is very technical, so they do have to actually code – for the developer they just dont need lead experience, but both responsibilities are the same – previous lead experience is preferable to simply being senior – its currently a small team – 2 developers, plus the 1 they will be adding – this will be the main development team for the media management solutions for New Fox – already have a lot of projects lined up – this team will be taking over these projects –- primary focus for these projects – media focused, deployed in AWS native service or one of the services that AWS is providing – EKS, containerization – (currently not using Kubernetes, but having Kubernetes experience would be a plus, they could have either Kubernetes, Docker, or EKS). Experience with media management systems would also be preferable – they need to understand how media workflows happen – how transcode options work – if they have domain expertise in media systems this is preferable – would definitely be helpful to see people who have come from Disney – Disney also has a Vidispine team so we could potentially leverage this. GENERAL SUMMARY Supports the team in a Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle for the development of applications running in a fully automated DevOps, Cloud, and Micro Services based environment. Work with our business partners to identify requirements and architecture and implement scalable, open solutions using Cloud Native technologies, including and leveraging AWS services, Machine Learning techniques, GIT, Jenkins, Docker containerization and virtualization, and Terraform. These applications are primarily on Java and NodeJS technology stacks. Coordinate and participate in requirements gathering, research of scalable analytic techniques, team collaboration, software development, software documentation, and technology roadmaps. The ideal candidate not only knows how to write code, but also identify and solve problems relating to scale, security, and analytics. This position requires a deep technical understanding of software development best practices, coding standards and governance. This position is located in Century City, CA.
