Job Description Engineer: Scala Programming, Java, Hadoop, HBase Spark Big Data

Candidate must be our W2 Employee.

Analytics/ Software Engineer for our Technology and Communications client in Center City Philadelphia. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in big data, algorithms, data structures, as well as some experience in real-time data, and technologies including: Scala, Hadoop, HBase, Casandra, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Nifi, Kylo, Samza



Job Summary

An highly experienced analytics engineer with experience of working

with large-scale, distributed data pipelines. Responsibilities span the

full data engineering lifecycle from architecture and design, data

analysis, software development, QA, capacity planning and managing the

analytics environment as a whole.



Job Responsibilities

- Create and support analytics infrastructure to support high-volume

and high-velocity data pipelines.

- Develop and test data integration components to high standards of

quality and performance.

- Lead code reviews and act as mentor to less experienced members of

the team.

- Assist with planning and executing releases of data pipeline

components into production.

- Troubleshoot and resolve critical production failures in the data

pipeline.

- Research, identify and recommend technical and operational

improvements that may result in improved reliability, efficiency and

maintenance of the analytics pipeline.

- Evaluate and advise on technical aspects of open work requests in the

product backlog with the project lead.

- Experience with streamed data is a big plus.

- This is a small team organized vertically with the opportunity to

work up and down the technology stack and interface with the client community.



Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Comp. Science or related field.

- At least 5 years solid development experience working on the

Linux/Unix platform.

- At least 5 years solid development experience working in Java/Scala

- At least 2 years of experience in analytics and working with data pipelines, preferably with technology stack: Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Nifi, Kylo, Samza
