This Application Operations Engineer is part of IT-NPA Operations team, performing with all activities associated with managing, supporting and troubleshooting a large complex and widely distributed environment. The successful candidate will maintain application hosting environment at various data centers and provide hosting services to approximately 200 applications and systems, both internally and externally facing. As a part of the IT-NPA-Operations group the individual will be responsible for maintaining and securing the WebSphere application server environment. The successful candidate must have strong working knowledge and hands-on support experience with IBM WebSphere suite of products and Microsoft Windows and UNIX/Linux server operating systems; must lead the development, review and approval of standards and procedures, both operational and functional; and may be required to support different shifts to enable 24x7 support and be on call.

Responsibilities:

Support code deployments
Support change pack, fix pack, and iFix upgrade activities
Support OS patching activities
Support Database DB refresh activities
Complete SSL certificate renewal activities
Troubleshoot application/service issues with vendor, business, and supporting teams
Update Runbooks and SOPs for changes
Follow ITIL processes to address incidents/changes/problems
Monitor/capture logs for troubleshooting or as needed for testing
Rotational on-call support as needed
Administer and enforce IT standards and processes
Potential on-call 24x7 responsibilities
Provide guidance and mentor junior staff on corresponding job functions
Provide advice to improve performance as related to application environment operations

Qualifications/Skill set:

1. BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
2. 8+ years of experience in IT-related systems implementation, application delivery, operations and support
3. Strong analytical skills, organized, detail-oriented and self-directed
4. Strong ability to adapt to and learn new technologies, products, and applications
5. Strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills
6. Self-starter and able to complete tasks with minimal support
7. Experience with three-tier architecture design
8. Strong leadership and excellent communications skills
9. Strong documentation skills

Web Application specific:
1. Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and managing IBM WebSphere Portal Server 7.x/8.x, WebSphere Portal Content Management, IBM WebSphere Application Server V 7.x/8.x and IBM HTTP Server V 7.x/8.x. (preferably WebSphere Portal 8.x and above)
2. Experience in installation, configuration, upgrade, tuning, security, backup, recovery and upgrades of IBM WebSphere Portal Server in clustered (High Available) environments on Linux platform.
3. Experience in cloning WebSphere Portal environment and setting up High Available environments
4. Working experience with automation via. Portal Scripting Interface, wsadmin.sh, JACL/JYTHON, shell scripting, JSON, ant, XML access, config engine etc.
5. Experience in setting up integrated security access to IBM WebSphere Portal and Single Sign-On to other applications.
6. Experience with automating builds, deployments, environment and configuration etc. using scripting.
7. Strong working knowledge and hands-on support experience with Microsoft Windows and UNIX/Linux server operating systems.
8. Experience working with Source Control Management Team (SCRM), Developers, QA, Network Team and Project Managers etc.
9. Well versed in web application security and ability to work with security professionals to insure a secure web application platform.
