Job Description: IBM Cognos Analytics Admin Perform the planning, evaluation, analysis, and execution of technical computing configuration and administration on the IBM Cognos Analytics 11 environment. Provide advanced level technical product support including response to user questions, installation, system monitoring, testing, problem diagnosis, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance. Facilitate and perform the delivery of technical services including the preparation of cost justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations. Formulate and direct the preparation of technical procedures, documentation, manuals, and reports. Maintain technical industry knowledge and understanding of AEP infrastructure. Mentor and provide functional/technical leadership and work direction to staff. Essential Job Functions & Tasks: 1. Exhibits advanced level proficiency in system administration and exhibits advanced level knowledge of the IBM Cognos Analytics 11 Platform that enables the administrator to serve as a senior trusted level resource in that area throughout the company. 2. Participates in technology strategy sessions. 3. Provides input into problem resolution calls and participates in an on-call rotation for all Analytics platforms. 4. Helps team to access proactively key measurement data and identifies ways to utilize information for enhanced performance. 5. Reviews and provides input on procedures and documentation to ensure technology remains current. Minimum Requirements: Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering related field Or Associates degree with 2 years system administration related experience Or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years system administration related experience. Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years System Administration related experience (in addition to any experience identified above). Minimum of 4 years of hands on experience as a Cognos Adminstrator including: - Experience in the administration and best practice configuration of Cognos 11 - Experience with a multi-server installation of Cognos in an enterprise - Experience performing both minor and major Cognos version upgrades and patches - Thorough understanding of Cognos security configuration and implementation - Experience monitoring, diagnosing and tuning performance of Cognos - Experience or willingness to support resolution of trouble tickets relating to Cognos. Knowledge of administration of systems with the following technical components: - LDAP authentication - Intel virtual server configuration - Linux commands and administration - Oracle RDBMS and basic SQL commands Additional expectations include: - Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and cross train team members - Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues alone or as part of a team - Availability to support migrations or perform problem response after hours or on weekends as needed and with appropriate schedule adjustments - Participation in an on-call rotation for after hours and weekend support of Cognos and other Analytics Services platforms. Additional beneficial skills: - Java experience a plus - Familiarity with SAS Grid a plus - Familiarity with Informatica a plus - Some Cognos development experience could be a plus but is not a daily part of the job and is not required. This is a true admin position.
