The selected candidate will be responsible for the proper design of the backend MS SQL database for public facing, medium-to-large scale applications to meet functional, performance reliability and availability requirements.

**Please note that this position will require the selected resource to work on-site in Montoursville, PA 17754.**

The selected candidate will be responsible for the proper design of the backend MS SQL database for public facing, medium-to-large scale applications to meet functional, performance reliability and availability requirements. This position will require the individual to have a sound knowledge of architecting complex database design for proper integration with applications for current and future technologies. The individual must have experience in MSSDLC and maintain state-of-the art knowledge of technologies, planning, design and analysis methodologies.

The selected candidate will analyze current database efficiency, research and resolve problems related to access, usage and performance of database; in addition to, suggest improved ways to collect and report on existing data. Candidate will develop any MS SQL server component stored procedures for uploading data feeds and prepare data for use in reports. Candidate will train CADD Support showing them how to assure data consistency and prepare staff for future support requirements and database expansion. The candidate will be part of a development team to build new SQL solution and will be responsible to fully coordinate deployment with other team members, while assisting with mentoring PennDOT staff assigned to the project.

Specific Duties:

1. Serve as the database administrator for backend MS SQL database requirements.
2. Design and code relational database objects in MS SQL, including queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, etc
3. Convert the existing databases from MS Access to MS SQL: Knowledge database, SOE, BARS, Soil, Profile and Autotab.
4. Coordinate with development team to build a new SQL solution for Autotab that will support statewide user requirements and business partner needs leveraging state-of-the-art methodologies.
5. Develop, test and deploy any SQL stored procedures to prepare data for use in Microstation, tabulation sheets, reports, data exports and required uploads to ECMS, Estimator, CDS NextGen and other identified applications to support single data entry requirements.
6. Develop and establish database policies, standards pertaining to database design and use, database security and configuration
7. Meet with end users and technical staff of all types to gather business and system requirements.
8. Develop database management system manuals to document procedures for defining, creating, revising, expanding, archiving, backup, recovery and maintenance of identified databases.
9. Provide technical assistance and assist with mentoring of PennDOT staff assigned to the project.

Required Skills and Experience :

1. Required: 3+ years of information technology experience
2. Required: 3+ years experience with MS SQL
3. Required: 3+ years experience in relational database development, support, security and administration
4. Required: Experience with backups, restores and recovery models. Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL.
5. Required: Knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics. Experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit, including Active Director and proper disk configurations.
6. Required: MSSDLC experience as an applications developer
7. Required: Strong oral and written communication skills
8. Required: Technical writing experience preferred.
